Maternity must-haves
It can be hard to know where to start with your maternity wardrobe and what you’ll need for your changing body.
These are some of our go-to items throughout pregnancy that’ll also become firm faves beyond.
Leggings
Throughout the first trimester, you might find your existing gym wardrobe works just fine. But if you’re investing in new, Adanola’s leggings are great for pre and post pregnancy, can be easily sized up without compromising on fit. The wrap style can also be easily folded under bump for more comfort in the latter stages
PSA: Don’t buy any other maternity leggings
These leggings are tried and tested, and at just over £30 are both cheaper and comfier than high street / high-end names. The over the bump style might seem a little excessive at first, but soon you’ll be grateful for the added comfort of no bump seams! We had 3 pairs in our mat wardrobe worn daily.
Everyday staples
It might feel like we’re stating the obvious here, but stretchy vests and longline tops become are a pregnancy staple. Size up in the polyamide styles from Zara to see you through the full pregnancy, or choose the MAMA range at H&M in your usual size for added bump coverage. Pair with an oversized blazer or poplin shirt for an instant outfit.
Oversized tee / knit & satin skirt
Early on in your pregnancy, particularly if you’re wanting to keep it under wraps, an oversized tee / knit and a stretchy skirt is a great way to keep your growing bump on the DL. Plus, you’ll re-wear it again and again throughout your pregnancy.
Trousers
Drawstring trousers, particularly the silky variety, are a great comfortable option to pair with oversized tees or knitwear, and can grow with your bump
When it comes to jeans, it might require a bit of trial and error as to whether you prefer the below-bump or over-bump styles. The H&M before & after jeans were a firm fave of ours in the second trimester - get your usual size or size up for a looser fit.
Comfy co-ords
Comfy loungewear is a mat wardrobe staple. Co-ord styles make you feel slightly more put together and are perfect for at home and out and about. Size up in the Uniqlo set, or take your usual size in H&M.
Going out out
There’s no escaping the need to dress up the bump for at least a few occasions throughout your pregnancy. We found ourselves turning to easy-to-wear co-ords, stretchy knits, or fit and flare options, none of which are maternity ranges and can be worn again and again. Size up in your second / third trimesters for styles with less stretch.
