Keratin hair treatment
Say hello to your newest beauty treatment for low lift luxury - the Keratin hair treatment. With many names and variations; '“Hair Botox”, “Demi permanent straightening”, “permanent straightening”, “Brazilian Blowdry”, it promises the same great result - smooth, silky hair.
How much does it cost?
Expect to pay £250-350 in London for the treatment which would be seriously worth it for long/thick/unruly/frizzy/curly hair. Think of the hours spent blow drying, straightening and smoothing hair as well as the time spent putting off doing all of the above.. It's simple Girl Math!
What can I expect?
Come to your treatment with completely natural, air dried hair if possible to show the hairdresser what your hair is like, as well as photos of how you like to wear it and what you want to achieve. The process takes approximately 2 hours- the treatment is applied to the hair in sections to ensure even application. It’s then left for about 30 minutes to soak in, then rinsed out and rough dried. The hair is then sectioned and straightened multiple times per section until you’re left with poker straight, silky hair. Some hairdressers then suggest you leave it 3-4 days before washing it, to maximise the smoothing power. Once you wash it you will be gobsmacked with how it dries naturally — smooth and silky but not dead straight.
Can I style it?
A common question is whether it can be styled - yes it’s super malleable! Even when you tie it up you can see the kink from a hair tie or the bend from having it in a loose bun. Curling also works and holds well in our experience.
The treatment lasts 3-6 months depending on how often you wash and heat your hair.
