Lucia Chalmers - Global PR Manager at MISSOMA

CREME IN CONVERSATION

“Never forget to moisturise your neck and décolletage, my mother drilled this into me and I’ve never missed a day.”

What does a day in the life look like for a PR girly?

I get up super early to get a work out in most days, and then take a leisurely walk to the office. Once I get to the office I’ll check in with the team and set out the to do’s for the day. This can be anything from a down day focusing on strategy or 10 back to back meetings. I typically use Monday and Friday to get my head down so I can be available for meetings during the middle of the week. Our team handles all Influencer, Press, VIP and Events for Missoma so no day looks the same, especially during the summer where we might have 4 events in the space of a month – these busy periods are my favourite as you’re moving a million miles an hour but then when all the creativity and ideas come to fruition it’s the best feeling.

I leave the office around 5pm and head straight home if I don’t have a work dinner or event. Then I’ll make something usually from Em the Nutritionist (my absolute favourite) and get into bed around 8.30pm.

How did you get your start in fashion and PR?

I started when I was 18 and met Sarah Burton at an Alexander McQueen event – which soon led to an 8 month internship in the press office of their HQ. It was very tough training but I have the best memories of this time. Then I took a gap year where I experimented within the industry, finding what it was that I was most passionate about. I worked at the likes of Prada, Vogue, Erdem and went to NYC to intern at Alexander Wang. This is where I decided PR was what I loved.

What's your favourite thing about your job?

Event season for sure, from concept to execution I love coming together as a team, listening to everyone’s ideas and slowly bringing together an epic activation. My favourite part is the smallest details which completely change the look and feel of an event. I also love the community I work with, I’m so lucky to be able to go out and meet amazing people who we work with through the week so am not stuck behind a desk all day. I would go mad if I had to stare at the computer 5 days a week.

Your skin is amazing, what is your favourite skincare product at the moment?

I started using You’re Looking Well products a few months ago and it has dramatically changed my skin and gut. They have a regime including day and night pills and creams and are truly focused on gut health which is so connected to how your skin acts. I’ve also been sleeping like a baby as their night pills are filled with amazing goodness like magnesium and CBD. I also do 111skin face masks weekly on a Sunday and have for about 8 years, it sends you into Monday feeling fresh and dewy.

And favourite makeup product?

I’m very much a no makeup-makeup kind of girl. I can’t live without my Victoria Beckham bronzer or Jones Road blusher. Pair that with Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lipstick (in the darker version) and I feel put together.

We love your style, can you describe it in 3 words?

Classic, comfortable and understated

And we LOVE your wardrobe, best buy of 2023?

I am obsessed with my Aligne two piece (pictured) – I have it in both cream and navy. So timeless and extremely comfortable. Something you can lounge around the house in or host a dinner party! Shop here

What’s on your radar to buy next?

My honeymoon is coming up so everything summer! I tend to trawl through Net-A-Porter and Matches for my summer wardrobes and then Monday Swimwear for bikinis.

What’s one wellness tip you think all young women should follow?

I can’t possibly only give one. First is water. I drink about 5 litres a day and always have. Second is sunscreen, as a teenager I used to wear factor 10 on my face and lay out all day and am now paying (a lot – financially and painfully – lazers aren’t fun!) to rectify what the sun has done to my skin. And third is never forget to moisturise your neck and décolletage, my mother drilled this into me and I’ve never missed a day.

And finally for the London girls, favourite restaurant right now?

I’ll never not answer this question with the River Café. It’s been my favourite for years and am never disappointed. The vibes are immaculate and food even better.
